The LibDems over at Three Rivers seem to be upset by the scheme. They have set up a petition.

The petition page is a little clunky so I can’t tell if this is still active (seems to be), when it was started or how many people have signed it – but it goes to show its not just us residents who think this is unfair to others and pointless waste of time – our neighbours do to.

Over at Kable, there is an interview with Steve Palmer, the newly appointed IT bod at Hillingdon. He is quoted as saying;
“They can use it for discounted parking, as a leisure card and a library card, and give them access to civic amenities sites.”
So, once again we have a Hillingdon employee stating that card holders will get discounted parking, even though it is not true – they are discounted off the new rates, not the current rates.
Further on in the same article Palmer also mentions that the scheme will be self funding for three years;
“Palmer says that over three years it will come at no direct cost to the local taxpayer, with savings to be made from collapsing the existing card schemes into one, and from the sharp fall in the price of the cards.”
What he doesnt mention is how much income is going to come from tax paying Hillingdon residents who forget their card, or because they want their privacy, choose not to use their card. Where are the workings out for this scheme?

The site is a little sparse but we are getting there. If you have info that isn’t public knowledge, please put it in a comment.

HillingdonFirst is an ID Card Privilege Card that will affect upto 243,000 residents based on a consultation of ~150 (which is not available). It will keep a log, for 6 years, of every time and place you park, when you visit the council gym or dump and has some dodgy future uses.
Coming June 15th.
