HillingdonFirst, ResidentsLast?

The Campaign

There are many reasons why you might not like the new scheme, and even if you like parts of it, join our campaign to get the whole scheme reviewed.

Why?

Here is a quick list of possible reasons to dislike the scheme – read all the pages at the top of the site to get more info.

  1. I am a tax paying resident, but now I need to carry a card with me all the time just to pay the same as before.
  2. I am under 18 so I can’t get the ‘reduced’ rates anyway.
  3. I don’t want Hillingdon snooping on where and when I park for 6 years.
  4. I don’t want Hillingdon snooping on when I use the Dump for 6 years.
  5. Its not really a discount on parking is it…
  6. I own a shop and think its going to drive customers away. Why punish my neighbours? My Staff?
  7. I don’t think that a 150 person consultation is good enough.
  8. Why is everything so secret? What are the future plans?
  9. I don’t like where this is heading.

What can you do?

Subject: Hillingdon First Card Scheme

Dear Cllr Mills,

I have read with interest the article in the People Magazine about the new Hillingdon First card scheme and looked at the relevant sections of the LBH web site. I believe the benefits are illusory while the costs are very real.

The web site says that “It will be funded through charging non-residents extra for using council facilities”. What you overlooked is that if the scheme is adopted by other local authorities we will be paying for their schemes.

The net benefit to the average resident will therefore be a minus one as somewhere along the line we will be paying for the costs of managing all these the schemes. We can add to that the inconvenience of having to carry around yet another piece of plastic. Far better therefore for all local authorities to get together and agree not to introduce these schemes and save us all money and inconvenience.

I would appreciate your comments.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Why am I here?

Hillingdon First is a new card scheme that has been introduced in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Unfortunately the hillingdon website is light on facts, so we decided to put up a more informative site.
